Program for 2024
January 5th, 12th, 19th
Happy Valley Reservoir
South entrance on Chandlers Hill Rd, directly opposite Kenihans Rd. Google maps via the Directions button will take you to this main entrance.
If instead, you enter at the first sign for the reserve, 1.5 km from the Main South Rd., near Berkeley Rd (as I initially did), you will be at the wrong site. The main entrance is a further 2 km along Chandlers Hiil Rd., and follows a left turn at the Bishops Hill Rd. intersection.
Hours: 7:30 am to 8:00 pm. Large car park. Toilets near main entrance.
More information ...
The google maps satellite view is outdated, it doesn’t show the new carparks and toilet block, but the street view does show these.

Moorhouse Road
Port Adelaide
Wharf off the end of Moorhouse Rd, down the end of the Grand Trunkway Rd.

July 5th
Morialta Recreation Area
Woodforde
Car park off Stradbroke Rd.
Toilets near car park.
July 12th, 19th, 26th
North Haven beachfront
Follow sandy walk from Lady Ruthven Reserve.
August 2nd, 9th, 16th
Victoria Park Racecourse grandstand
140 Fullarton Rd., Adelaide
When I visited at 1 pm on Thursday 01 Aug, there were 3 hour parks available at the edge of Fullarton Rd near the grandstand. Further south, the parks are marked permit only, and at the very southern entrance there are only a few 3 hour parks available.
I couldn’t see any vacant spaces in the all-day parks on Wakefield Rd. on the northern side of the park. And there were some, but not many, vacant 3 hour parks on the western side of the park, but that is a very long way from the grandstand.
Toilets: available at the rear of the grandstand, and in the centre of the sports oval.
Coffee:
There is a licensed café/restaurant downstairs in the grandstand, which serves coffee and milkshakes. It is open for breakfast and lunch, and they plan to soon be doing evening meals.
Wetlands:
Located at the southern end of the sports fields; parking near East and South Terraces may give better access to the wetlands.
August 23rd, 30th,
September 6th
Torrens River
near Hackney Rd. bridge
Turn West from Hackney Rd. into Bundeys Rd.
In front of the archery there are 5 hour parks, while to the Western end of Bundeys Rd. the parks are 3 hour.
I think there are toilets beside the oval on the Northern side of Bundeys Rd.
The entrance to the path and bikeway beside the Torrens is near the Hackney Rd bridge, as shown on the map button.
September 13th, 20th, 27th
Michael Perry Reserve
Stonyfell
There are toilets in the reserve.
The Directions button gives the Google Maps reference for the main entrance from Kurrajong Avenue.
There is some street parking near the entrance, but some more distant spaces are lost due to the street lanes separating around trees.
If parking there is not convenient, there are alternative parks in Willowbridge Grove. Although that involves some extra walking, it is on level ground.
Directions to both spots are shown on the Map button.
For the main entrance (1), turn left from Greenhill Rd onto Hallett Rd.
For Willowbridge Grove (2), drive a little further on Greenhill Rd, then left onto St Albans Drive.
October 4th, 11th, 18th
Glenthorne National Park
O’Halloran Hill
Access to the park is only available from the Main South Road, turning onto Majors Rd to enter the park (see Site Access). Entry from the West (from Ocean Blvd and Lonsdale Rd), has been blocked due to roadworks. If Google maps directs you to any other road, you need to ignore it and use the Main South Road.
There is plentiful car parking, with a central area for toilets, BBQ’s, sheltered areas, and children’s play areas.
But beyond that, there are some very scenic areas, with the larger trees providing some cover from rain.
October 25th,
November 1st, 8th
Palmer Gardens
Palmer Place, North Adelaide
Nearest toilet, upstairs, Archer St shopping centre.
Nearby parking is only 2 hours, although Jeffcott St and part of Ward St have 3 hour parking. But as the site is open, painting gear is visible to others when moving the car after 2 hours.
November 15th, 22nd, 29th
Garden Island Dolphin Sanctuary
Continue on Grand Trunkway to Garden Island, veer right to Eastern end of island.
Car park and toilets at the site.
School and public holiday dates are underlined
